Over the last few years I’ve worked on a story. Through the encouragement of a few close friends,
I was able to finish it and get it published late last year. I would term it “autobiographical fiction”.
It has many true stories that happened to me and my family when I was growing up. As the story grew, I felt
I was hampered by the “ when where and how” of each event and character and how they fit together.
Once I released myself from this, the story seemed to expand and get better. It happened 50 years ago, so even most of the characters who were real would say, “Did I really do that?” I had a great time writing
it and hope you would enjoy my recollections.
The name of the book is called Switch Hitters. The synopsis tells of a small town setting and the exploits
of a playground softball team. Over a two year period, they rose from a start-up team to “City Champs”. Also
you will enjoy the many side exploits that happened to me and my friends during this time.
I’ve devoted the book to fund raising. If you buy the book through me, I make enough to donate 10%
to each of three charities. So far, several hundred dollars has benefitted my church and the park in
Pennsylvania where the story takes place. If a GARA member buys a book, I will also donate
20% to GARA for
the benefit of GRIN.
The price of the book is $19.95 (includes tax). If you want to pay more, all the “more” will go to GRIN.
Please see me at our meeting to place your order. I will sign each book with my personal thanks to you. Also,
once you read it, please refer it to your friends, or to your book club.
Thanks, Larry Buttermore, State Farm Insurance
